A geogrid layer may look ready for covering, but appearance alone does not confirm that the installation matches the design. Before placing fill, the site team has an opportunity to check product identity, visible condition, orientation and construction readiness.
Once aggregate covers the reinforcement, investigating an unresolved observation becomes more difficult.
Identify the application and supplied product
Begin by confirming what the geogrid is intended to do. Road stabilisation, working platforms and reinforced retaining structures can require different layouts and installation procedures.
The overview of geogrid applications explains these uses. The GeoKhanjani geogrid product range introduces available product types, while selection must be checked against the project requirements.
Compare roll labels, supplied grades and delivery records with the approved documents. Similar appearanceadvertised tensile strength does not establish that two products are interchangeable.
Inspect condition, direction and continuity
Look for cut ribs, broken junctions, tears, wrinkles and displaced material. Record the location and extent of observations before deciding how they should be addressed.
For polyester geogrid, confirm the required reinforcement direction and approved connection details. When assessing connective geogrids, obtain documented construction and performance information rather than interpreting suitability from the name alone.
Also inspect the supporting surface. Unexpected soft areas, standing watermovement should be assessed before they become hidden.
Check the next construction operation
Fill placement and equipment movements can affect a previously inspected layer. Confirm how aggregate will be delivered and spread, what cover is required and which operating restrictions apply.
For injection geogrid, as with other types, use installation guidance for the actual product supplied. Do not transfer overlap dimensions, equipment permissionsrepair instructions from an unrelated system.
If the grid movesbecomes damaged during placement, stop the affected operation and obtain the required assessment.
Keep evidence with the decision
Photographs document visible conditions they do not measure retained strength. Keep the product reference, installation location, observations and authorised response together.
Before covering the layer, identify who is responsible for closing any outstanding action.
